Geodetic Engineers as the next future Geographers.
Our physical environment is constantly changing. Sometimes this change occurs very slowly, over millions of years as mountains are thrust up and worn down. Sometimes the change happens very abruptly, as earthquakes suddenly shift the ground. In recent times, due to civilization humans have changed their own environment in many ways, clearing forests for farmland, and building cities in desserts.
How do such changes affect where we live? Question asked by geographers- people who studies earth’s various physical features and our relationship to them. Their field is called Geography. On the other hand, is there still any land to be measured? Query asked by Geodetic Engineers- people who study various land measurements by determining the exact positions of geographical points and the shape and size of the earth. However, those fields both have the same root words but differ on level of expertise. Geographers have broader studies on earth compared to geodetic engineers who limit themselves to numbers and theories of land. How about giving them the opportunity in describing world like what geographers do? Both fields have relationships. So it will be possible that Geodetic Engineers will next the next geographers in the near future. Establishing new curriculum that will help Geodetic Engineers in their field of expertise by enhancing their abilities in surveying and to train them pertaining to earth’s various physical features and disciplines by disseminating them to different areas to conduct several studies. With this, geodetic engineers- not just focusing on land property surveying and engineering surveys. But also can be well-trained troops for geographical surveys.
By describing the mathematical environment around us, Geodetic Engineers improve our understanding of the world and our relationship to it. Such understanding helps us to make plans for using our lands and waterways wisely. Furthermore, it helps us for future changes.
